One of our favorite experiences on the island!

Big Island Bees was one of the highlights of our stop in Captain Cook! Joe, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the bees and beekeeping process and the small shop/museum had a bunch of neat art and historical objects. Joe also recommended several local restaurants and attractions for us before we left.

Our first day on the Big Island and we were looking for things to do. We say an advertisement for BIG ISLAND BEES in a magazine and thought what the heck. We were at Hamakua Macadamia Nuts when I called and made the appointment for a 2:00 tour. The trip there was so much fun as we took in a lot of sights and BIG ISLAND BEES was a lot of fun. We ate our share of honey and learned so much about bees and honey. They ship to the continental US and we purchased! Thank you BIG ISLAND BEES for a wonderful experience on the Big Island! Mahalo.

Honestly, we weren't expecting much. We were headed to Papakolea Beach for the day and heard from a few folks that this was a cool spot to check out on the way We did the tour and we LOVED it. Our tour guide, Joe, was extremely knowledgeable, charming and passionate about the business of bee keeping. Our perspective on bees completely changed after our visit. After the tour, Joe and his co-worker gave us a ton of recommendations for spots to check out on the island, and of course we left with a bag filled with honey goods.

I like the guided tour of seeing the beehives. But my wife thinks $10 per person is a bit much for the tour. You also get to sample the different flavor of honey at the end of the tour. We would have bought some to go back to Denver but we don't have a checked luggage

Wonderful tour, the whole place was very interesting and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about bees and general beekeeping. Amazing honey, and free shipping to the mainland is extremely helpful.
