The hours posted online mean nothing. Today was our second attempt to come by only to find it closed (again.) We double checked the hours online to make sure they were open before we made the 45 min treck today. we understood it was our error to not check the hours on our first attempt on a Sunday.
Excellent macadamia nuts, especially their coffee macadamia nuts I get some of those on every trip to the islands. If your not down in this beautiful area of South Kona then they also are also at the Wednesday Market at the Sheraton from 9 to 2 and the Saturday market at Keauhou Shopping Center the coffee macadamia nuts are extremely good and very addicting.
so internet says "open" great, we make the journey only to find they are closed. Bummer. Maybe they are vacation. Fine. We pull into the parking area and stop for a minute so that my husband can get something out of the trunk of our car. As soon as we step out of the car the owner comes out screaming. Hysterical. A pack of dogs come running at us, so I am distracted by the horde of dogs running my way (I'm not fazed, I love dogs), but I assumed she was yelling at her dogs to corral them up. nope, she was screaming at us and quite nasty. My husband tried to explain he was just getting his backpack from the trunk and we were leaving and turning around. She screams we should do that down the road. We get back in the car, she is walking away, but still screaming, I'm trying to back out slowly because I am trying to make sure none of her dogs are near the car or in danger of getting hit. The tires spin a little on the gravel as they try to grip the road and she starts screaming we are ruining her drive-parking area. I wasn't spinning out, but going slow. This lady is very unhinged.
Wow this lady is crazy. She yelled at us when I missed the one parking spot because this place did not look like a legitimate establishment and 10 dogs started barking at us and running at our car. I tried to turn around carefully so I don’t hit the dogs and she yelled at me and called me deaf. Avoid this place unles you like crazy people. I think the only thing nuts about this place is the owner.
Wow. 5 months after our bizarre experience the owner decides to get online and insult everyone who has written a review. One chap didn't even write anything negative and was still attacked verbally by Diane. Do you really want to support a business whose owner is so nasty to their customers?
Very short tour gives you uncomplicated understanding what happens in growing processing nut. Lots of dogs and dog poo.
In conclusion, don't bother going out of your way to visit this establishment. Hours posted online are not reliable. The owner reminds me of someone with borderline personality disorder. If she had not come out immediately screaming at us, we would have gotten the backpack from the trunk and been out of her way within a minute, instead of having this bizarre experience that guarantees we will not return.
