Great fish and chips. My wife and I shared the "1.5 fish and chips" order. It was plenty for the two of us, and it was delicious. Be sure and try their spicy dip for the fish. This place is near the City of Refuge and was a wonderful surprise.
I love the laid back atmosphere. The cat that hangs out here all day is evidence of the relaxing atmosphere. There's a cockatoo saying hello On The back porch. On the back porch it's like a family bar b que type setting. I loved it. (eclectic) Then the service... These people are down to Earth..like being at a friends house. Then the FOOD!! ... The Ono Fish basket.. We ordered a plate good for two that are sharing.. Half fries and half onion rings. They peel the skin off of the onion. So they're the onions rings that separate nicely when you bite them. Mmmmm. The Ono fish nuggets are awesome! The meat on that fish is thick and very filling. Best meal we had on the island. Had to go back and make it the last meal we had in the island.
Really pretty good fish and chips. I wouldn't call it the best ever, but definitely good. Tartar sauce and malt vinegar and good fries too. Big portions and not too expensive. The set-up is weird, with a living room and souvenir shop in the front, and your standard South Kona Specials at the helm. But for the food it's a good option for the area.
This place EXPLOITS animals by keeping them caged, when they are fully capable of being free. Would have given this place 5 stars until I found out that the cockatoo they are keeping caged, and (cockatoos flourish in the wild in tropical areas) is PURPOSELY having its wings clipped so they can keep it caged to "entertain" customers. This poor bird was starved for attention, and couldn't get enough, as NO one gave it any attention beyond us. Can you spell E-X-P-L-O-I-T!!!!!! Shame on this company. The cat was great, as it was free to go where it liked. This is the 21st century....stop keeping birds captive, and let them be FREE!!!
Parked easily, big open space to walk into, and friendly atmosphere. I think I was helped by the owner and she is super child friendly. We ordered a flavor burst ice cream! Delish!! Haven't had one in so long, and it tastes so yummy!! They have a great variety of food as well. Thank you for the great visit. Will most def return.
