「Kealakekua（神の通り道）湾」の奥にあるこの「Hikiau Heiau」は、豊穣神ロノを祭る避難神殿で、ここで祭りが行われている時にキャプテンクックのレゾリューション号とディスカバリー号が入港し、神として迎えられた。出帆したものの嵐で船が損傷し、修理の為に戻った際に船員と住民の間に諍いが起こり、ジェームズクックは湾の北西部（現クックポイント）の入り江で殺されてしまう。

My Mom lost her wedding band coming out of the beach just north of this landmark. If you find a gold band with diamonds, please let us know!! Otherwise she absolutely loved it and thought it was a beautiful park.

「神の通り道」と言う通りに「人の通る道」は無く、キャプテンクック記念碑へは船で無ければ行けないが、微かに遠望することが出来た。
